BIO
Yanaëlle Ritter (maiden name: Thiran) is a Belgian-British dancer, choreographer and contemporary dance teacher who trained at London Contemporary Dance School, Art Factory International (Italy), Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and the University of Chichester. As a performer, she often collaborates with musicians, visual artists and designers. She has danced in stage productions, installations and site-specific works by Kuan-Yu Chen, Kamala Devam, Irene Fiordilino, Amber Hahn, and Eleanor Tapper.
Comfortable with improvisation scores as well as set choreography, Yanaëlle shapes her dance works differently for theatres, galleries, outdoors or online settings. Since she co-founded Company Concentric, she has initiated and managed a range of projects, choreographed all 6 and performed in 5 of the company’s productions, while also teaching company classes and workshops across physical and digital spaces.
Yanaëlle has been teaching creative contemporary dance since 2017. Her teaching practice spans weekly dance classes in schools and studios, guest lectures at conservatoires and universities, private classes, pre-recorded content and one-off workshops for organisations like The Place, Sadler’s Wells, Trinity Laban and Eastbourne Dance Space. Yanaëlle holds a Level 6 Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning, and keeps on developing her teaching skills through peer observations, CPD sessions, team-teaching, reading, and reflective writing.
